Bella Bellisima: Dominatrix Turned Escort

By Amelia P

Bella Bellisima is a dominatrix-turned-escort who began working in the adult industry seven years ago. These days, Bella is based in Florida in the United States and is busy studying dermatology in addition to her work as an escort.

Bella was kind enough to share her perspectives on the industry with me, and we touch on so many great topics, including:

  • What it was like for Bella to grow up around sex workers;
  • How she turned from dominatrix to escort;
  • Why Bella thinks simple selfies are important;
  • Why she might abandon OnlyFans.

Amelia: Hi Bella, thanks so much for speaking to me today! Would you be able to introduce yourself a little bit for the readers?

Bella: Sure, I’ve been in the industry for almost seven years. I dipped my toes into the sex work world when I turned 18 as a sensual dominatrix in a few prestigious dungeons in Manhattan and North New Jersey.

Amelia: Amazing! And have you done other kinds of sex work?

Bella: Yes! Besides working at a few dungeons as a dominatrix, I also met a few sugar daddies on that eye-rolling app, Seeking Arrangement! I still do a lot of fetish work, and I am still in touch with a lot of my original subs and sugar daddies I met when I was a young 18-year-old. We’ve built up such a rapport, I consider them my long-time friends. They are always there for me if I need help in any capacity. Whether that’s helping me move furniture into my storage unit, help with last-minute expenses or just a shoulder to cry on. As of right now, I am primarily an escort, but I do still dabble in online sex work and still do domme sessions with established subs.

Amelia: Very cool. What was it like to shift from working primarily as a dominatrix to mainly doing escort work?

Bella: It was like taking a sip of water and realising it was actually vodka! [laughs] I loved being a dominatrix but found myself adoring being an escort even more. I felt like I was making more financially and getting to experience being spoiled and pampered in a whole different way. Dates are my niche and go-to, and I didn’t get to do much of that as a domme since I primarily worked in a dungeon. It was nice being able to frolic around and about exploring Manhattan with lovely suitors who shared more in common than just fetishes.

Amelia: Definitely. The social part of bookings can be so nice if you find clients that you get along with. Where do you see your career in the industry heading moving forward?

Bella: I am a second-generation sex worker. I grew up around escorts and seeing all these vivacious gorgeous Brazilian women around my home all the time. I always knew I wanted to do whatever they did. They always looked amazing, were happy, and, most importantly, they didn’t have anyone pointing a finger in their face telling them what they could and couldn’t do. So as soon as I turned 18, I knew I wanted to become independent from 9-5 jobs and dip my toes into sex work. I think of the possibility of retiring more often than not; I can’t lie. But I don’t see myself doing that until I am married or win the lottery! [laughs]

Amelia: I feel you! Is there a particular reason retirement has been on your mind lately?

Bella: I suppose it’s something most sex workers or any career-minded women think of. What’s next for me? What if I’m in a very serious relationship? Would I do this if I were married? And starting my career in dermatology within the next two years, I will be busier than ever! That’s really what prompted the question for me. I will have to do an apprenticeship at an oncologist’s or plastic surgeon’s office, so I would not be able to tour and have to work a regular 9-to-5. As much as I love my old and new friends, if I didn’t have time to see them anymore, my new career would come first. In the meantime, I am still enjoying setting up dates and as many adventures as possible with lovers. Like Oscar Wilde says, “I can resist everything but temptation.”

Amelia: That makes a lot of sense. I’ve had a similar situation as I’m beginning work in another field – the time commitment of a 9-to-5 definitely makes escorting more challenging. And I think it comes down to what sort of life you want to lead. As you probably know, I’m based in Australia, so I don’t know a great deal about the industry in the U.S. What is the industry like in Florida? What are your clients like?

Bella: I just recently moved to Florida during the start of the pandemic, before I was accustomed to the New England market. In the year and a half that I’ve been here, I’ve met some of the most remarkable gentlemen and gentle ladies! My favourite dates are dinner and extended day dates to soak up the sun on the beach and slurp down some oysters. Thankfully I’ve had most of my newest suitors read my Twitter to get a little insight on some of my favourite things. I was worried about being a “Latina” in an oversaturated “Latinx” market, but I learned it’s all about your own personal hustle. My clients are open-minded, selfless, sweet and generous. I adore meeting new admirers and can’t wait to officially be off hiatus to see old lovers and new faces.

Amelia: It sounds like Florida has really grown on you! Speaking of hustle, I LOVE your photos on your website. That black leopard catsuit is absolutely killer. What is your approach to photoshoots? Do you feel professional photos are an important part of marketing as an escort?

Bella: Thank you! I appreciate that a lot! I usually create a mood board – sometimes months ahead of time – to plan for looks and remember certain poses. I just finished shooting my latest one a few days ago and can’t wait to see the finished results! I think professional photos are essential because it truly highlights how serious I am about my own marketing. I also showcase a lot of selfies and BTS (behind the scenes) on my Twitter to show I do look exactly like my professional photos – if not better without all that editing! I like to do a mix of both so suitors can compare. I’ve gotten a lot of love from simple selfies in leggings and a tank top, just like I would from a full glam lingerie shoot.

Amelia: Definitely. I can relate to that. I think professional photos are important for marketing, but it is funny how sometimes a simple selfie can really catch a client’s eye and sell them on booking a date. I think it’s all about showing your personality in the end, and sometimes selfies can do that better than glam pictures. Now, in addition to being an escort, you are studying dermatology. I can imagine you have a busy schedule! How do you manage to juggle all your responsibilities?

Bella: Oh lord! Sometimes I don’t even know how I do it all. I guess I love the anxiety of constantly being busy and keeping myself preoccupied. [laughs] I am only taking online classes now and start in-person classes in the new year. So, in the meantime, I’ve been recovering from cosmetic surgery and planning my tours for when I return in early August. I also have five pets that keep me pretty busy 99% of the time. I really wouldn’t have it any other way though, I love the hectic life. I will definitely miss travelling when I start school officially.

Amelia: Oooh! Can I ask what you had done? I had a rhinoplasty a few years ago and was shocked at how few of my clients noticed the difference when I came back to work (or at least, how few said anything about it!)

Bella: I just had 360 lipo and a BBL! My recovery process was swift and easy. I couldn’t be happier with my results. My surgeon was kind, not aggressive, and gave me exactly what I was looking for. I absolutely adore and am an advocate for plastic surgery. I think there’s absolutely nothing wrong with tweaking little things about yourself. I’ve been curvaceous since childhood but always knew I wanted to look like the ultimate Barbie doll. I was very open about why I was going on hiatus and kept my colleagues up to date with photos and videos on my OnlyFans and close friends on Instagram stories. I know I’ve had a few clients already say they can’t wait to book me to see the results in person! [laughs] I feel even more unstoppable, and without a doubt, I love myself more. I know I’ll have more work in the future, and I will be open about that as well. In this day and age where it’s hard to find honesty and authenticity, I take pride in not shying away about the work I’ve had done. Some will like it, others won’t, but those aren’t the ones I’m here for anyways.

Amelia: I love that so much. I did notice you have an OnlyFans – is this something you took up during COVID? How is producing online content different or similar to escorting?

Bella: I actually started my OnlyFans probably a year before COVID. I honestly cannot lie, these past few months, I haven’t really loved it at all. I feel like many of my subscribers do demand a lot from me – for free – which is very unsettling. I also run into the occasional “Do you do meetups?” question that can jeopardise my entire account. I’ve seen a lot of discourse lately on how other escorts feel about OnlyFans, and simply put, I think a lot of us are fed up. I would much rather be spending my time on a fly-me-to-you and enjoying one another’s company in person, rather than spending hours editing a video that will only get three to four likes. It brought in a good profit a few months ago, but since I’ve been inactive, I don’t get much revenue anymore, so I’ve been considering abandoning online sex work for good. The only reason I would consider still keeping it would be for suitors to see me in a raunchier way and using it as another form of authentication.

Amelia: Yeah, I’ve definitely heard a similar sentiment from many escorts who have dipped their toes into online sex work. Some seem to love it, but I think those who like escorting for the human connection side of it find online work really unsatisfying. Now, one last question for fun: How did you choose your escorting name?

Bella: I just recently rebranded! I was brainstorming names for months until I decided I wanted something more European that would describe me perfectly and also be soft on the tongue. Bella Bellisima literally translates to “Beautiful, Very Beautiful.” [laughs] I absolutely adore Italian culture, and one of the finest things in escorting is being able to reinvent yourself as many times as you’d like. I was a little emotionally attached to my old name, but I wanted something new to go with my new body.

Amelia: I love that! And, I have to say, it is a great name. Thank you so much for taking the time to chat today, I really appreciate it, and I’m sure the readers will too.
